It was in 1879 that Alfred Louis Bower, trading as Bower & Co., first imported wine for sale to the trade, to City companies and institutions. 126 years later, Veritaus & Co., the trade arm of El Vino, remains an integral part of the London wine market, supplying a range of premium wines to both wine merchants and restaurants, bars, hotels and clubs all over the UK.

Our list covers both the classic regions of the Old World, and exciting and up and coming regions of the New World. We focus on boutique wineries, producing wines that are both exciting to the UK market and great value for money. We do not sell big brand mass-produced wines, and you will not find our bottles lining the supermarket shelves - we are firmly anchored at the top end of the market, and only wines that reflect our passion for character and individuality find their way on to our list. The producers that we work with have without exception won immense international acclaim, and their wines perform consistently well at the top wine shows. Of these, we are particularly proud to announce that our Woodstock The Stocks Shiraz 2001 scooped treble gold at the Asian International Wine Challenge, winning the awards: 'Best Red WIne', 'Best Australian Red', and 'Best Shiraz'.

As we ourselves run four winebars/off licences within the City, we are in the best possible position to understand the demands of the wholesale and On-Trade markets.
